I am the last person anyone would expect to write a blog about simple living. For as long as my family and friends can remember, I have stuff, plenty of stuff. I have stuff in my closet, bookcase, on my desk, on the floor, and even more inside my head.
But one day, I woke up. I looked in my overflowing closet and found nothing I wanted to wear - a common enough predicament for any woman who works hard to have enough spending power. But it went on far longer than I expected and covered a much wider scope than my material possessions. Family, career, friends, hobbies - there were too many branches for each part of my life. I realized what the problem was: The more options I had, the less love I held for each one of them.
I began a decluttering binge. I began reading blogs on minimalism and simple living. I took a long hard look at my career and lifestyle paths. I made decisions. I had always loved the outdoors and adventure and I soon realized how, maybe, just maybe, I can have more of the experiences I want if I was lighter on my feet and in my heart. I needed to offload whatever was not essential and give myself space to invite joy.
And so starts my journey. It begins with things and experiences and, hopefully, never end :)
